Brothers enjoyed a successful TJRL grand final day , as the Club won 3 of the 5 age groups contested at Dalby on Saturday 11th September, 2011.
The
day started off with Brothers beating neighbours Newtown 26- 4 in the
Under 12 decider. David Tea starred for Brothers scoring 3 tries , while
Jacob Edwards, Xavier McGrane and Alex Toner also crossed the line. The
12's fought from No. 3 position , all through the semi's , to secure
their premiership win !!
The Leprechauns then claimed the Under
13 grand final , with a 16 - 12 win over the highly fancied Highfields
Eagles side. After loosing the major semi. the 13's had to beat South's
the week before in a sudden death play off, to have their rematch
against the Highfields side. A try to Zane Wilshire , with only minutes
to go to full time, secured the hard fought contest , Brothers way .
A
good day continued for Brothers as they also won the Under 14 decider
26-14 over the Oakey Bears. Jarred Tuite and Jesse Head scored doubles
for Brothers , as the Leprechauns muscled their way to the win. A loss
to the Bears in the last game of the premiership rounds, was the
catalyst for Brothers 14's to really focus on their year , then take out
the major semi and Grand final.
Unfortunately the Leprechauns
could not win everything, as Valleys defeated Brothers 28 -22 , in a
very close & brutal Under 16 Grand Final encounter. Brothers had all
the momentum in the 2nd half, but time ran out to take the trophy.
Strong games from Jonah Placid, Ash Taylor , Corey Langton & Bill
Squires, could not produce the win.
TJRL President Darren
Hutley, also presented Brothers TJRL Club , with the Club Champions
Shield for 2011 season. This is the 2nd consecutive year that the Club
has secured this prestigious award, and it was accepted on behalf of the
Club by Co Club Captains Joshua Roser-Ratcliffe and Ben Hollman.
Celebrations
continued back at Brothers Hursley Road grounds , with a few hundred
people joining the boys to celebrate the 2011 season & its success.
Club President Joe Hannant was very proud of the Club's season and
ecstatic at the success the club secured during the finals series. "
Over the last few years the Club has worked hard on implementing the
right culture within , where all players are in an environment, where
they enjoy their football and we have been lucky to secure a very
experienced coaching staff , that support these same values. Brothers
welcomes everyone to the Club and players know they will get game time ,
no matter the numbers in any grade, as we go out of our way to secure
2nd games where required"
Club Coaching Director Gary Palmer , was also excited by the clubs success in 2011. " The Club has grown it player roster over recent years, especially in the lower grades , and with the changes approved for the TJRL competition in 2012 , with the introduction of a 2nd competition, the Leprechauns will be submitting multiple sides next year. The new structure will allow for better development of players & their skill sets, within a environment of playing against other teams of a similar level and importantly they all have the opportunity to play for points & a premiership. Well done to the TJRL clubs for this initiative !!!"
Brothers
Seniors had a very successful season in 2011. Two sides made the finals
series with A-Grade finishing 3rd overall and C-Grade finishing 4th.
The Under 18’s and Reserve Grade both narrowly missed out on the finals.
The A-Grade side won the mid-season premiership, claiming their first
Madsen Rasmussen trophy in 10 years. The side benefited throughout the
year after signing former Australian and Qld legend Jason Smith at the
start of the year.
Sam and Tim Hannant both made the Toowoomba
Clydesdales side that toured Bundaberg with Sam captaining the side. A
successful season resulted Sam Hannant, Tim Hannant, Nathan Gaulton,
Justin Croft and Jason Smith selected in the TRL team of the year.
Matthew Coutts was also rewarded for a great year being named Reserve
Grade player of the year. Up and comers Josh Davies and Jake Head were
named in the Rising Stars side.
Overall it was a great year for
the club, even though no premierships were won. Lets hope that we can
take the next step in 2012 and claim a title.

In 2011 Brothers provide 23 players to Senior and Junior Clydesdale teams.
2011 Senior representative players; Congratulations to Sam Hannant (captain), Tim Hannant, Nathan Gaulton & Johnny Nguyen for being selected in Toowoomba Clydesdales

This year the Under 13's have secured 7 spots and the Under 14's have

coaching strength from within the Juniors and provides a great crop of
